Little bit larger than a softball. Sorry don't have weight. Is extremely dense. It is magnetic. Found in desert

Probably about 12 to 15 lbs

do a simple density and hardness test .....Iron 7.87 Nickel 8.9 cobalt 8.9 dysprosium 8.55 and soft gadolinium 7.9 ....i forget the hardness of each element but just look it up on line ...last time i looked these are the only magnetic elements ....good luck some are rare earth metals and all the meteorites i seen are dark color but who knows i very little about them

I would assume it's gotta be one of those. Middle of nowhere. Nothing around it. Would this be common do you know? I appreciate the help

Its hard for me to tell what size it is in the photos but its got to be one of these 5 elements maybe it would melt down to a 4.5" sphere i don't think its iron that only leaves the other 4

where you find it that helps some ?? If its not from outer space then its i guess a nugget if not man made is there any mining in the area you found it

I would say 14". Maybe more evidence of mining under the surface but definitely nothing around it. Middle of the west desert

if that old and nowhere near any mining i never seen nothing like that 3 of those elements are rare that leaves only Nickel

That's what I'm thinking too

Dysprrosium is the only magnetic element that soft gadolinium not listed on my chart might be soft ....cobalt 5 iron and nickel 4

You get a bucket of water put a tray under it and fill the bucket to the top with water ...the tray will catch the over flow after you put that rock in the bucket measure the overflow from the tray in a bottle that measures cc X it by the above numbers and compare to it weight and you have your answer ...am guessing Nickel i hope that from outer space $$$$ or RRE
