I vote to 'fry' it; does Dennis do electrolysis?

I agree, if he can.

With wood in it, I'd say definately was on a post.

IF He can get this whole word or Letters
clear, a Google image search may help

It looks like the end of a pole used to open and close out of reach windows, much like the ones in an older school. The up shaped part to push the latch open. The down shaped part to pull it closed.

Tell us those letters creskol. :icon_thumright:

BCH, I agree with you that it fit on the end of a pole/stick and was used to open/close 'something;' whether it be a window or a gas lamp or either to retrieve something like a rope for a boat. I'm glad you were able to find the pic of the modern ones. Breezie

I'm asking if the one end is threaded - female thread
reason for asking is -
Gas fed lines require a course thread, also a reversed thread
I finer thread would indicate a standard pipe thread, to connect to standard pipes
It really is an important question

It isn't threaded. It had a wooden handle held by a pin. If you look at the last pic in reply #15 you can see the inside of it pretty good.

How heavy is it? It might be for tapping down not for lifting up if it's heavy.

He is working on it now to try to get it clean. Hopefully, it will reveal some more clues. I am off to Texas for a week,
but will post any updates if there are any when I return.
