Any guess on who this guy is?

Just judging for manner of dress (high waistcoat, large collar with tie/sash underneath the collar) coupled with a chinstrap beard and the style of photograph itself would place this guy in 1850s/1860s.

Who is he? It's the famous "Neatly dressed older fellow with confused expression" made possible by long time photographic technology which people apparently were unhappy with.

A photograph is a most important document, and there is nothing more damning to go down to posterity than a silly, foolish smile caught and fixed forever.........mark twain

Of course Twain would say that, haha. An image search for his photos do not show him ever falling victim in that department. I would venture a guess though that somewhere in private collections is Samuel cracking a smile.

Wish I could help with IDing your photo, but if I can not, at least make it funny right?

This appears to be a charcoal drawing instead of a photo. There are many such pictures of my family. Most were done by traveling artist working for room and board.

Yes I think it is a drawing thought it was some sort of print at first

I would be researching The Amish folks out in PA., The hair and beard style, the tie style, but what confuses me is the fact that the Amish would not have had Photographs taken as they would see it as a "vanity Sin", but they have sat for hand created likenesses.
I'll do some digging !

Not Amish - he has a tie and a vest. Some Quaker banker or ship builder whose image was up as "Our Founder" or something.

He looks to be Mormon. Google or Yahoo image search, historical Mormon leaders(and variations).
The manner of dress, is very similar, as well as style of beard. Thats all I got..... GL.
