Hi, I'm looking for a decent place to metal detect in the metro area of Minnesota. (Especially around the Twin Cities like St Paul). The area that would be ideal for me for metal detecting would be a park. I've tried parks before and didn't find anything too significant (They were old parks). I'm mainly looking to find old coins, but other old items would be fine too. The era I'm looking for is the 19th century and the early 20th century. If you have any ideas where I could go that would be helpful. You're probably wondering why I didn't post this on the Minnesota thread. The reason why I'm posting it on general is so I can get a faster answer since the Minnesota thread doesn't look too active.
Thanks

People have been detecting since the 1970's in my area. The public parks and schools are hit by everyone when they start the hobby. I dug my best finds on private permissions from properties that were settled in the early days of the local communities, mainly houses in towns, but have pulled a few goodies from old farmsteads. Part of the fun of this hobby is researching local history and old maps to find those out of the way spots that can produce. Detecting is like fishing no one is going to give up a honey hole.
