In have no practical experience in the matter, but been told the chances for nuggets are no better than in VT or NH. One would think the chances would be better being closer to where the lode gold was. How about the TRX? Do you like it?

I love the TRX. It goes fairly deep, can be ratcheted down for easy pinpointing and it's tip sensitive which I prefer.

Hey guys, I going to spend a week in Island Falls, ME and was wondering if there are any spots up that way to metal detect for gold. I have never had a chance to try it. I also see that it's possible to try gold panning in the rivers up there. Any advice?

Maine gold prospectors :skullflag:

Thanks Terry.

The Swift River which I think is near Byron Maine is a well known gold spot. Some decent nuggets have come out of there in the past.

Thanks smokeythecat. Was just checking and it looks like I'm going to be kinda far from there. It does look like some gold is found in the Aroostook River which is kinda near where I'm staying. Might check it out.
