Oh wow that does look like it!! Thanks :-)
Sorry to everyone about not posting more info. I should have read the sticky.
So lets try the small item

I am attaching more pictures of it with measurements. It appears to be copper or maybe bronze. Upon further inspection there are three pieces to it. Two outers and an inner piece. The inner piece moves on a pivot point that I am pointing to with a toothpick in one of the photos. The inner piece seems to partially close off the holes making me thing it was meant to latch something. The inner piece looks like it had a small tang on it to operate the pivoting action. It weights about 3ounces. Thanks for sticking with me on this everyone. You have all been great help :-)

My guess is that you may have identified this item yourself as a latch plate, it could've been on a purse or similar type item, I'm guessing here but it looks likes it would works much like a briefcase latch where you would have a second piece either on a piece of leather or a metal hinged piece that had sorta toothed or barbed hook/s that fit into the holes in the latch plate, the pivoting portion I think would've been spring loaded and would latch when the "hooks' were pushed into the holes on the latch plate, it hard to tell from your pictures but I would think the "small tang" you mention would extend out from under the plate to release the hooks.

:-) neat. I wonder how old it could be. It was found in the same area as my large cent piece. Thanks for the help !! Three out of 4 items solved. I have found words on the fork but need to get a magnifying glass to really read them. Will post when I find one :-)

Good description something like that should be patented.
I agree the tangs are for leather.

Is a concho like a broach? That all I can seem to find online. It definitely latches onto another piece that I didn't find.

I was looking at this item again, before I said "... I would think the "small tang" you mention would extend out from under the plate to release the hooks" but now I think one of the holes may have had a siding button to release the "hook" like it does on a briefcase.

Similar to this modern briefcase, but without the locking ability.

I'm working in cleaning it up. I'll post as soon as I get it done. For now I just see letters but can't make out what it says.

Your fork is done in what is called the "Olive" pattern. It was made by a couple companies, besides Meriden Brit., it was also made by 1847 Rogers Bros.. It was first introduced in 1875, although many resources say 1880, which is when Olive 2 was introduced. Hope this helps. Scroll down a little, you'll see both patterns- queenofsienna | Just another WordPress.com site

Very cool. Now looking at the back of the spoon I can make out the words "Meriden britta co" some of it is tarnished over so I couldn't make it out before but now I can thanks to your information.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with these items. This forum has a great wealth of informed members!!!!
