Antiquity lead

On EBAY there is some lead seals for sale. Have no idea what the weight is but the asking price is $750.00-the Historical value :-\ ???.
O.K. new lead can be converted after a few months.
BUT if you will check you can find OLD LEAD that was use to make practice bombs used by the Navy. These bombs did not have explosive charges. They were used to pratice dive bombing on a big canvas target.
At Cape Canaveral when they started building Condos they recoved a few hundred of these bombs and sold them as scrap lead at the local scrap metal yard. I purchased over 150 pounds of these bombs at $0.25 a pound. The bombs were only about 20 pounds each.
The scrap yard no longer sells to the public ???.
There is another scrap dealer that will still sell lead but most is not old lead.
Look around and you will find what you are looking for.
Look for old WW11 Navy bombing ranges. They are all over the place here in Florida and about 10 miles from old Navel Air Stations.
Like I said they are all over Florida.

PegLeg,
Please re-read my post. Old Lead does not need to be converted...only new Lead. Just that old Lead takes months to evaluate in order to determine the alpha particle release rate in order to determine it's value in terms of viability for use in the commercial manufacture of solder for high-end IC's and processors.

Queston for conjecture here: What would it cost to recover a pre-1940's practice bomb and make a profit at selling it if it is, indeed, LAL? Profitable or not? (as I don't know). Definitely an intersting subject because I am find Lead on a regular basis here off the North Coast of Egypt.

Mike,
Man the shipping cost from where you are would be very expensive would it not?
But at the going price based on ounces there would still be a GOOD PROFIT I would think.
As far as the cost of recovering the NON EXPLODING TYPE bombs all you need is a boat and a metal detector and maybe a dredge.
There is a place in Cape Canaveral that used the area as a Bombing range-(the no exploding type) before and during WWII. This location would be loaded.
I think that with a little research ALL these type areas can be located and there would be a record somewhere on the number on bombs dropped and the total weight.
Worth looking into.
What type of lead are you finding. Bars, sheating or what?
