I purchased this antique writing desk through a local estate auction yesterday. The bidding was frenzied in the last hour but I managed to snipe it away. I will pick up the desk and chair tomorrow and I paid $420 for both pieces.
What period is this desk? Victorian?, Edwardian? Georgian? Did I get it for a good price?

Any help is appreciated.
Also take a look at the chair. It definitely does not go with the desk as it screams Arts & Crafts and I'm almost as excited about the chair as I am with the desk.
Thanks, all.

Very Nice Piece. Certainly looks like it was worth the price you paid. Desk looks like it has been refinished? Any hidden compartments?
I don't think it has been refinished but I'm certainly no expert. It may have a secret compartment and I will be looking for it when I get it home.

Wow, this table is in excellent condition, we got it at a low price, tell me at which dealership you found this???
FYI, the post you're responding to is two years old, so you may not get any replies. (And the original post says they got it at an estate auction, not a dealership.)
