I have a set of 6 antique forks I received when my mother passed away. I'm not sure what they are made of. Some people say brass, others say gold. The only information I was given with the forks is that they are passed down from oldest daughter to oldest daughter and has been for generations. Her mother (my grandmother) told her that she was the 7th generation to have them, so I am the 8th. I was able to trace them back that far (8 generations) to Hannah Brockway Harvey in 1779 in Ohio. If it helps, my grandmother also said her family was originally Pennsylvania Dutch or Pennsylvania German, whichever you prefer to call them. Each fork has 5 symbols on the back that no one can seem to identify.
