Glad it was a blue star. I think the gold star was the one for a son killed. Many times there were multiple stars and even multiple colors on the same banner. Don't know what it is worth. Probably not a lot as there were lots out there and I am sure everyone saved theirs. But who in your family served in WWII? Grandfather? Granduncle? Father or uncle? Whom ever was in that generation. That makes it priceless.

I don't think that these were around much in the 60-70s. Good way to get your house vandalized. But I have seen them from this last go-round. I was touched. I wonder though, since the war is officially ended, is there a time for the banners to be removed from the windows? I don't know how long they stayed up after WWII ended. Perhaps until the son returned home.

They don't have much monetary value really. Unless of course it's one with multiple stars. I've seen them with as many as 5 stars. Even then though those were selling for around 30$ If it had a black star that would mean a son killed in action. It's the kind of thing I'd probably take to a VFW hall and donate it. Or even possibly the WW2 museum here if they were interested. If you had the name to go with it and a photo of him in uniform it would make a nice display.

This is sad, what has happened to history and Current Affairs in the schools? ??? I showed this picture to a 14 year old kid next door and he didn't recognise it either. Sad. This flag is well known in our past but yet unknown for it's meaning here in the future.
Nothing against you awesomeperson5 as it's not your fault not knowing. Just an old fart letting of some steam.

Whats worse is the college kids that dont even know who the colonials fought in the revolution,or who fought in the american civil war or why the 4th of july is a holiday. Its the kids fault just as much as the school systems fault. those who do not seek knowledge will remain pitifully ig norant.
