I don't recognize it..can you get a better picture? Maybe rotate the coin differently too? Text almost looks Byzantine. What is the diameter of the coin? Also Joe, your coin goes in the mail tomorrow...it has quite a pleasing portrait on it...enjoy...

It's really no big deal... I have several of these things and I like for those new to the hobby to have a pleasant experience....lotta junk coins floating around out there these days. I have seen many new to the hobby turned away by the crooked ebay sellers peddling junk coins. Thanks for the compliment Jim =).

It gives me great respect for guys like yall helping guys like me learn and enjoy a hobby such as this . History totally fascinates me. Gunner heres a few more pics. I took it out of olive oil and brushed it some more. The sparkle is really starting to come through. I magnified it 60x to show. Some of the lettering looks like TOR K or R . Thanks gunner.

oh yea, its sitting on top of penny.

I am totally stumped on that one. I still think it is likely to be Byzantine in Origin...from the size of it I would suspect either a pentanummium or decanummium.

I believe that is some sort of Byzantine Lead Seal. The font is clearly Byzantine in style. The lead would explain the silver color. Is it particularly heavy for its size? Is the material soft? A pretty neat little find. I wonder what the text means? I can see "O N K" on it almost certainly.

Its the way the light is hitting it in the pictures that gives it the silver color. It is actually a yellow gold color. Since you have been so kind to me gunner, how about I send it to you and let you have a look at it. If you'll pm your address I'll send it. I've been soaking it in olive oil .
