Hello All,

Went out for a marathon two-day dig with Shanegalang and DiggerGirl. We'd been covered up with work and not had a chance to do what we love in way too long, so we finally got out to play in the dirt. :headbang:

Here's the video of the hunt:

Day one was really slow for hours until I walked up on a Russian Blue trade bead poking out of the dirt:

Then things started to heat up, as we began to make finds. I saw a complete pocket watch where it had washed out (farmer dropped).

Then, walking way away from where we were finding, I got in a patch of outlying finds, and was stoked when I saw a two-piece button come up. I said a little prayer hoping for it to be military and turned it over. Sure enough, it was a CW Louisiana Pelican button!

Then at the end of the day, DG came up to me excitedly. She'd just dug half of an antebellum silver "twin hearts" ring! That is a great find!

On day two, DG and I slept in a bit, and when we got to the site, Old Shangalangalangalang had already dug himself a nice handful of finds, including a dropped three-ringer, 1887 Seated Dime, and some other nice bits. Well, DG and I got right to work!

Eventually I got a dropped Burnside bullet that had been carved. Shang and I both dug nickels, but I won the nickel contest with a worn Shield Nickel and he had to settle for a Beefalo. :D Eventually I got a nice brass button reading and to my surprise out popped a half dime! The coin was really worn and holed, but sure enough it was an 1860 Seated Half Dime!

Then not 20 minutes later, Shangalang answered with a beautiful 1853 With Arrows Seated Half Dime! And I mean BEAUTIFUL.

I got a real shock when I dug a hole about an hour later and out popped GOLD!

I was SO convinced when I got down on my knees to look closely, that I'd have just about bet my F75 on it being gold. But it was a thick plated piece of jewelry of some sort.

The day ended nicely with DG digging a figural horse-head shaped spur!

Thanks so much, Davers. I'm amazed at the wealth and affluence of the area we dig. Hope to keep the streak running, but we're headed for some lean times in the next month or two I fear. Trying to secure more permissions and do some scouting.

Dude, you sure did dig a lot of some really nice relics and coins. That is one producing site you are hunting.

We have 40,000 acres of permissions, so we dig many different sites.

I love to read every hunt you post Will. You made a bunch of cool finds again. That Pelican Button is stunning! The ring and the jewelry whatsit are great too. Plus you got silver again! Well done! :icon_thumleft:

I really like the jewelry whatzit. If for no other reason than the heart attack that it gave me when I first saw it shining.

Cheers,

Buck

Per usual I loved your video and the live dig was so much fun to watch! Congrats on a great group of relics.

Thanks for tuning in, CoilyGirl. You've been making some great finds up there in TN. Congrats on your recent successes!

Beautiful stuff, love that Louisiana!

Me too. Can't ever get enough of finding these beautiful buttons. I think the backmark on this one is "Bellenot, New Orleans"

Great finds Buck.
The pelican button is a fantastic find. And you find so many seated. Great digs, and vid.

I'm thrilled that we're able to scrounge up so many of these. Thx so much for your reply, Vino!

The Canefield crew came out like BANDITS. The Pelican looks good with the lined field. Shane & Molly scored good finds as well. Know you haven't had much time to hunt but also know how good that for you to get out and was to dig a little. Too bad Molly didn't find that sweethearts ring & had it restored earlier-would have saved you buying that very expensive engagement ring!-LOL. WTG, Q.

She would've been VERY happy if I'd given her a soldier's brass wedding band dug from a CW camp. ;)

Nice hunt
Still looking for my first pelican.
I see yall got another one of those double heart rings.

Great finds. Love the pelican! Who does your photography? Very nice work and needs recognition!

Many miles apart from each other but after 25 years without one, it's nice to see two surface in one year!

I do all my photography myself. :)

Good post. Great hunt. We will do it again soon ;) That jewelry that was plated gold has cool gems on it. I like it a lot. I was surprised when you dug the 72 signal that wasn't a coin..the buckle? You didn't recheck the hole.....or at least didn't film it lol Now I'm wondering if there was a coin there??? ................Shane go lang go lantern :)

Nice array of finds Buck. A hunt like that would thrill anyone. Congrats!

Lot's of good finds, Love the pelican. Glad you all was able to get out, Bill

Congrats on the silvers and the button, really liking the piece of bling though.
