There are lots of reasons why some people want to remain anonymous. Maybe shyness, could be the "Witness Protection Program," or perhaps just a problem with Computer Skills. Personally and in this situation, none of the above apply.
I asked for permission to do this post. Mainly because my buddy in all probability wouldn't. A very modest and humble individual.
I was invited by a fellow Tnet member to help search for a lost ring. I couldn't make it.
The real reason for me wanting to post this recovery is to insure that people see this side of what we do and how it puts this hobby in a truly positive light.
Congrats to "Brooklyn digger" and well done.

Nice of you to post this. Thanks for the story.

Kudos to BrooklynDigger, I used to live by Avenue U & Ford, on the recovery and to you ATW for making sure a very good deed did not go unnoticed.

Thanks for posting this Against The Wind!

I wish you could have joined me, beautiful day out at the beach.

This nice guy lost his wedding band playing football near the Surfline. We waited for low tide to go to the spot he knew it would be. I turned on the machine, swung and found it on the first signal. They rarely are so easy!!

There is nothing quite like the smile from the return of a lost item, it can be habit forming and well worth it. congrats on the find and the return as well as the post. he won't ever forget it either.:headbang:

Great recovery and return.

Actually pretty amazing he knew the exact spot, couple years ago I was detecting in the water and I noticed a guy obviously looking for something in chest deep water.
He sees me and says hey is that a metal detector ? I said yep, you lose a ring ? He said yeah its right around here somewhere, I was throwing a foot ball and it came off. I spent about half an hour looking for it, going up to my neck then about waist high and couldn't find it.
The guy lost interest and was back to playing football, I said if you want to give me contact info I'll call you if I ever find it, he said thats Ok. Didn't say thanks or nothing so I went on my way.

A few months later in early fall I found it, was far shallower than he had thought, barely knee deep ,,, I had sited the area by a unique tree in the distance and it was right in line where the guy was at. Must have flown off his finger while throwing.
Too bad, nice 14k band and all he had to do was give me his number. Can't say I didn't try.

Sweet recovery and return, thanks for sharing the story
