I found this in one of our out buildings . We got an old farmhouse last spring and I keep finding neat stuff .
At first I thought it was an old soap box for camping . It was all covered with bird crap , but it cleaned up nicely .It seams to be some sort of stove . I'm not sure what type of thing would be heated on it . It seems to small to heat a pan , and those metal pieces that flip up are not over the burner . It must have a special purpose . It is marked '' D.R.G.M No. 44638 . It's 2'' wide by 3 1/2'' when it's closed . Any info will be greatly appreciated . Thanks

I'm pretty sure you are both wrong. It definately is a whatcha--ma-call-it! But it does resemble a thing-a-ma-bob to some extent. ;) Monty

That's a curling iron heater! The long slot where the alcohol flame is matches the length of the iron. The handles rest on the cradle part.Glad I'm not a girl!

From what century? ??? :D I've never seen anything like it! :D

Nana ;)

looks like it may be for a small traveling iron,, only wheres the iron, they would heat it up over the burner part then iron there shirt straight, once at destination, whilst ironing and moveing the shirt or what ever it was they were ironing the holder would be for the iron,,,. i wonder,,. ;D

It's a doo-hicky that was made in Germany.

I googled DRGM. It said that it stood for Deutsche Reich Gebrauchs Muster. (easy for them to say LOL)

The number is a German Patent number.

I'm still searching google to see what the item may be.
