So would this be concidered a hardin style or time period???

broke or not still a sweet find

This was my first find on the farm. I broke it in half while digging a hole with my shovel. Never could find the missing piece. Its very sharp, serrated about a1 1/2" from the tip. No grinding on the base or sides. Found about two feet deep at the clay layer abt 4 feet from the last point i posted.

Very nice ...well worth screening the dirt to find that missing piece.

The long flake removal on that one is wonderful. I would also agree it being an early piece.

That is what scares me about digging. Man!! You couldn't find the wedge shaped portion, or did the shovel crumble it?

Ya i looked and screened and never could find it. Must have crushed it. I was digging a hole for something else when i discovered it. Thats why i was careless. Didnt even realize i had artifacts until i saw this one.

Are you sure you "crushed" it? I don't see a patina change....maybe it was tossed like that, I've found several that I also thought I had broken with the shovel but a quick look at the break will tell you all you need to know. I wouldn't bother looking for the remains....nice piece.

Ya its a fresh break. I glued the two halves back together. Yes i dug all around it and found that other thin point i posted abt 4 feet away, near the same depth.
