Well I just had to show this . It is a hand made hammered copper cauldron . The inside is lined with nickel silver . You can see how big it is . And no it is NOT dented , It want even made straight . I have had is for a few months . I took it to have it checked out and was told the style of it along with how it was put together , it was made before 1790 . I found it at a flea market . The person had some of the OLDEST items I have ever seen . Most everything he had , I would say was 1700's . I MAY GO TO HELL BECAUSE of the way I bought it . The 1st time I seen it he told me $400 for it . A 101_0193.JPGfter awhile I went back and his wife was there and seen me looking at it . SHE ASKED ME " Whatca give me for it ?" I said $100 ? she said OK . so I paid and got the hell out of there . I look at it as , he should have told her !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!101_0194.JPG

Im going to Hell, but not for that. Don't feel bad about the barter. She asked you a question, you answered and she said yes. Sounds like fair trade to me. Fantastic large. VP has a point it is very big but if you have a spot for it keep it another 50

We still use the copper and cast iron pots. About three times a year my antique engine and tractor gang will get together and cook a stew, hash or even boil peanuts!!

You have some choices for usage:
A) use it as your detecting trash bucket in your truck
2) make some corn liquor in it
D) flip it over and use it as a coffee table
3) shine it up and sell in on Etsy.com for $1500.00

Nice find, I like it!!!!!!!!

The lining is tin... not "nickel silver".

Tin keeps the toxicity of the copper at bay... and must be reapplied from time to time... due to wear and acidity etc.
