I went back down to where I found my big Point last Sunday but it looked like a parade went through. So I went to the field behind the owners house that I know no one else hunts. I found three nice Points, a really nice Thumbscraper, several really nice Flake Tools with micro flaking, and some other odds and ends. I also found a Scraper made from an Overshot Flake. This makes the second or third I have from this site made on an Overshot Flake. Garrison county Kentucky. For size comparison, the Weak Stemmed Point is 2 1/4 inches long and the Birdpoint is 1 1/16th long.

Question, the one pic above your thumb scraper, it’s the brown material that is a large spall but has a sharpened edge. What are those? I have multiple but don’t know there uses?

its probably another form of scraper or a just simply a blade.

They are Flake Tools and were used as Knifes and Scrapers.

Looks like you had a productive hunt. That sure is a nice little thumb scraper.

I wish I could find those amazing those would be great display pieces .Thanks for posting them

Loved “-looked like a parade went through.”

Maybe word got out that Lowe Points are laying all over the ground. Loose Lips, ya know?

Anyway, I love those repurposed flakes.

I’ll take a guess at the Point types.
- The big one: possible Adena or Heavy Duty?
- The medium: dovetail? Flint Creek? I don’t know.
- The small: maybe Crawford Creek or Kirk?

All those artifacts on one walk? I think you found the nest.

There are a few locals, two that live within 1/2 a mile, that hunt down there as well. Only I am allowed behind the house so I can hit it anytime I please. Great people.

The big one is called a Weak Stemmed Point here.
The medium is most likely another Lowe or variant thereof.
The small is a Birdpoint and most likely Woodland.

As as for the Flakes, I love those Tools and this site produces a bunch. They are almost always made from some of the best materials too.

Actually, that was a below average hunt there. I usually find 5 or more Points and more Flake Tools and Scrapers than you can carry. It needs more rain.

Every Flake in these two trays have an edge worked on them somewhere. Some of them have some of the finest micro flaking I have ever seen.

Love those Flakes.

By the way, is bird point a general term for all small stemmed points in your area? I see bird point a lot, but we don’t have that designation here.

Great hunt indeed
