As a few of you know I seem to have an uncanny ability to find shoe buckles and shoe buckle pieces. I found 3 completes and a few very nice frames my first year. Didn't find much today but another frame and a small fragment. Also dug the smallest little pewter button at about 6". This thing is so small that my pointer would barely make a noise when it was touching it. The pic is blown up a ton but trust me it is tiny.

My neighbor said her husband found a shoe sole in the woods With wooden pegs.. And they threw it in the trash ... Uuhhggg

Oh that's awful. Some people just don't get it or care. That's a great looking mastiff. My brother has one named Max. Weighs in at a measly 180

WTG Abe. There are a few new members here that I think are destined to hit that big find as IP said.

Thanks OD! You've done very well yourself recently. But above that it's obvious you're a gentleman by your posts and comments. I know it's hard to be when you're having to deal with a bunch of idiots like me and George and Treb lol. But I've been told you do things the right way and you're a hell of a nice guy. Those are the things that really count. The fact that you've been out nailing treasure on great sites is just icing on the cake. All the best bud, Abe

Cool buckle frame!

Sweet buckle frame man:headbang:

I once found like 25 of them small buttons in a 2x2 foot area i assumed a whole coat was lost there.

I've never seen a buckle before with a partial pin for the tongue and chape. Good find!

Yes, me neither. I'm sure you checked the area for the missing pieces. But strange that the hinge pin is still there (or most of it) and not the guts.

Congrats on the latest addition to your shoe buckle collection Abe! :occasion14:
That's one thing I doubt that I'd ever find here in my area, the sites here just aren't old enough.

Congrats on your finds from this year, you're a 'natural' at this hobby my friend!

Thanks Dave. They certainly are a good indicator that you're in a good spot.

Just a couple of my small buttons, the gold one was found with my toy (AT Pro) at 6 inches, in a very well known historical place in center city Philadelphia (thanks again George) (there are no reenactments at this site, ha lol) the other was found in my backyard with my CTX at eight inches (rang clear as a bell, extra means GOLD Abe) (of course you already know this)
I'd put in my pix of my Spanish Silver, but I'm saving up for a eight reale, lol haaaaaaaaaaaa.

Damn bro that is a gorgeous button. Don't remember that baby. I love that thing!

That's really cool! Congrats! For the most part, I have spent the majority of my hunting time looking for coins & jewelry. Occasionally I have stumbled across a cool relic. Looking at your pictures is inspiring me to do some "relic" hunting!!!

That's because I cleaned it better about a month later, along with this one. They both sat in lemon juice for about an hour or two and came out looking beautiful.

Hey Mike I have certainly enjoyed finding these personal relics from days long past. I also think they make the coolest display pieces. I've been lucky to find so many shoe buckles which I've always thought were a super cool relic. But I've also found a very old pistol barrel, a heart heel plate, a marked crotal bell and a few old axe heads and skeleton keys. Relics are an important window into the everyday struggles of the settlers. That's the stuff I really enjoy finding. Just thinking of the individual that was there a couple hundred years ago and how they may have lost that shoe buckle or gun. I consider a gun a once in a lifetime type find for most. Hope you find lots of cool relics Mike

Nice shoe buckle frame! I dig 25 fragments for every intact frame.

Abe, I thought I put two different gold buttons on there, when in fact that is the backmark for the front of the pix before
