More likely.. They have finally admitted to themselves that there is nothing of value to find and simply cannot come up with a way to spin that into 10-12 episodes.

I think it is pretty well proven by now Oak Island is treasure free.

Lagina Brothers Up To Something To Resurface The 200-Year-Old Treasure On Season 5?

Fans might see another season of "The Curse of Oak Island" as the Lagina brothers reportedly changed their mind about not doing another installment. Latest reports claim that their team is up to something to finally resurface the 200-year-old treasure hidden under the island, and the possibly final dig will go down in the yet theoretical "The Curse of Oak Island" season 5.
The future of "The Curse of Oak Island" has been up in the air since its season 4 ended, and the reportedly disappointing ending of the installment has placed a risk on its renewal. The show's creator was also not sure about the fate of the series but expressed his hopes during an interview to work on at least one more season. Despite the worrisome reports these past weeks, "The Curse of Oak Island" is now looking likely as the Lagina brothers reportedly agreed to do another treasure hunting stint to uncover the 200-year-old treasure they have been digging for years.
Fans are very well aware that Rick and Marty Lagina failed to find the legendary treasure believed to be hidden under one of the spots in Oak Island. Fans are excited to see the much talked about an item which is believed to be a pirate treasure of Captain Kidd, but the lack of clues is slowing the brothers in finding the right spot to start digging.
With much disappointments from "The Curse of Oak Island" season 4, reports claim that Rick and Marty lost faith in their purpose and gave up the thought of going for another series of episodes. This is most especially because the brothers need to find another sponsor to fund their activities.
However, with the latest reports seem to hint on the brothers successfully coming up with something that will make "The Curse of Oak Island" season 5 possible. Will they find another fool to give them money to look for a treasure that is not there?

Not sure I could watch another season of this. Maybe they will sell off .0001% shares of the island for $10,000 each and then they can do another season.

That's the best thing about relying on evidence. You can always revise your hypothesis when it appears.

I say "nay" to any treasure existing on Oak Island. Anything else I reserve judgement on until an accredited archeological study has been conducted. When I read about it in Archeology Magazine, or National Geographic or the Smithsonian Magazine I will be more convinced.
