Well after a week of lousy half boxes that has only yielded me 5 silver keepers from my last 9 boxes, today's cwr score was quite a nice surprise. I decided to stop at a bank that I haven't been to much lately and I almost didn't stop but I'm sure glad I did. When I got there the merchant teller told me she had some coins that she thought might have come from someones collection and she was going to call me (she has my phone #) to let me know. She had 12 cw half dollar rolls, 10 state quarter rolls (in brinks clear wrappers) in AU+/UNC cond., and at least 10 mwr's of SBA's. I only had a little less than $300 cash on me at the time because I hadn't yet dumped my half boxes from yesterday so I just bought the 12 half rolls (of course) the 10 state quarter rolls (although I wasn't sure I really wanted those but, oh well) and 1 of the SBA mwr's (faded white wrapper with gray lettering $25 DOLLARS BRANDT INC WATERTOWN WIS USA and someone wrote in pencil on the wrapper 1979 - P - UN. I wasn't sure if I really wanted the SBA's either but since they were in mwr's I thought they might have a little numis. value. I told her I would probably be back for the rest of the SBA rolls.
So anyway here's what I found from the cwr halves:
Roll 1: skunk
Roll 2: 1 x 90% JFK - bright white in AU cond.
Roll 3: skunk
Roll 4: 1 x 40%: '68D
2 x 90%: '57 Ben, '60 Ben (XF cond)
Roll 5: skunk (solid '97P)
Roll 6: skunk
Roll 7: 2 x 40%: '66, '67
11 x 90%: '52 Ben, '53D Ben (AU+ w/full bell lines), '62 Ben (AU - might be proof), '63 Ben
7 JFK - all look bright white in AU - UNC. cond.
Roll 8: 2 x 40%: '67, '69D
4 x 90%: '52 Ben, '54D Ben (XF+), '60D Ben
1 JFK - looks bright white in AU - UNC. cond.
Roll 9: 1 x 40%: '67
9 x 90%: '43 WL - VF cond.
'54 Ben, '61D Ben, '62 Ben, '63 Ben - last 3 all look in XF+/AU cond
4 JFK - all look bright white in AU - UNC. cond.
Roll 10: 1 x 40%: '65
7 x 90%: '51D Ben (XF+) & '62 Ben
5 JFK - all look bright white in AU - UNC. cond.
Roll 11: 2 x 40%: 2 x '68D
8 x 90%: '51D Ben, ''52D Ben, '53D Ben, 2 x'54D Ben (1 looks XF), '63D Ben
2 JFK - one looks bright white in AU cond.
Roll 12: 8 x 90%: '52 Ben (looks UNC. w/full bell lines), '53D Ben, '57D Ben, '61 Ben, '61D Ben
3 JFK - 2 look bright white in UNC. cond.
Total: 59 keepers: 9 x 40% & 50 x 90% (1 WL, 26 BF, 23 JFK)
Most of these coins are in beautiful bright white cond. with clean edges as thick as clad coins and appear to have been from someone's collection.
I also scored 2 x 40% halves from $200 in cwr's from another bank today.
This turned out to be my second cwr score of the month. Earlier this month I scored 62 silver half keepers from 13 cwr's from another bank. It has sure been a great month for cwr's - that's for sure.
So this now brings my total to 103 x 90% & 142 x 40% halves for the year. And my fv totals so far this year are:
$53.90 fv 90% silver (2012 goal: $250 fv)
$71.00 fv 40% silver (2012 goal: $500 fv)
I actually found 10% of my 90% fv goal just today so the year is looking quite good so far.
