One more for you guys since you have been killing it on the id’s. It’s brass, made up of 3 pieces screwed together and has a small amount of scrollwork on it. Found at an old homesite abandoned in the early 1920’s. It’s been bugging me for a few months because I have no clue what it is. Maybe some kind of horse or buggy tack?

The other day, someone correctly identified a piece (sort of like this) that turned out to be a bracket (stiffener / stretcher) for a drum head.
Maybe yours is for a banjo head?

Your find was definitely meant to be seen, I like Anduril's theory of it being a musical drum stretcher.

I always like to look at pieces like this and try to figure out when it dates from.
Based on the look, the screws look to be 'modern', so I'm thinking late-19thc in date. :icon_scratch:

I'm thinking some kind of picture rail hanger device. Turn of the 20th C.

Cool looking piece. Here's hoping you can get a positive ID on it soon. With ideas coming in, it won't be long.

Late 19th century is in line with other finds at the site. Most of what I have dug there has been 1870’s to about 1910. Could very well be for a drum but it is a pretty heavy piece. I have found quite a few harmonica reeds here also. Thanks for your opinions.
