Had a Great Day!!! Hunted with Jimmy D also. Ended up finding a 1952 Franklin Half, a Merc, and a Silver Rosie, and a handful of Wheats. I got wore out today digging all these holes. It was definitely worth it!! Silver #22fty. In my opinion that fleabay offering of the golfing button is spurious and the item shown is not a “1901 Original”, but a modern fashion button aimed at golf enthusiasts. The London Badge & Button company has only existed under that name since 1973, specialising in fashion buttons.

The design of the button (yours and the fleabay item) is based on that formerly used by the famous Royal Blackheath Club, although they haven’t used it for a considerable time. It had no copyright protection and has been widely reproduced over the years for golfers with no relationship to the club itself. Some buttons include a date of 1745 which is also spurious, since it represents the earliest date where there is evidence for foundation of the Royal Blackheath.

Your button is likely to be somewhat older than the fleabay offering but difficult to date except from type of construction and/or backmark (if present) but sadly not much hope of that for your find.
Fantastic background information Red-Coat. :notworthy:

Agreed, beat me to it.

Wow that’s a lot of wheat pennies! Congratulations on your silver and I love the little car.

Great assortment of finds, any three-silver day is a very good day in my book. Don't see too many Franklins ever found, I think I've only ever found 3 or 4 of them. Congratulations!

Love it Franklins are so under rated. Great coins.
