So Mirage and I met up with Don and Beefcake for a hunt…we went back to a site that hosted a large hunt last year…but this time with the intention of finding the location of an early 1800s iron mine that Don noticed in the maps in a more obscure location. It was a long but enjoyable trek; after about two hours, Don finally found it. It was right around the corner from where we were just about to think we’d never find it. It was way too unhuntable though (think IRON, lol)…the soil was dark red and the detector was just overloading constantly. I felt accomplished that we actually found the place though, heh. I ended up back in the same area that I pulled most of my stuff out of last year.

I was back at the Berg again yesterday while the getting was good. Was surprised to find another barber quarter, in nice shape too. Also a very small silver pin reading “Philathea”…I’m not sure how well-known that word is, but I had never heard of that; I researched and discovered that it represents a group: “young women at work for young women with all standing by the Bible and the Bible School.” Found a bunch of the pins selling on ebay and looks like the patent date is 1908.
