Yesterday I tried my Ace 250 in the front yard around the sidewalks for about 30 minutes. Found 2 more pennies, but I got signals in 5 places...2 pennies, 2 whatzits and one where I didn't find anything. Seeing as how it was my yard, it's not necessary to head anywhere to detect after work!~ WOOHOO! A good deal what with the shortness of the days. Now, if I can only get up the nerve to put on my big coil and see what it can do. I figure I'll do the yard with the regular coil first, then go back over it with the big coil. That ought to keep me busy for a couple of weeks. :D

Now, my question: Does anyone here worry about reaching down and grabbing hold of an old razor blade? There was one post today that had something that kind of looked like one and it got the thoughts turned this way.

HH, ya'll!

I have a jobby thingy as well! ;D I use an old awl to probe out targets in shallow ground, max about 4 inches deep. And I did manage to shove that thing about 1/2 way through my thumb the other day! :o That's about the worst detecting injury I've received.

Worst detecting injury iv had was cat briar scratches all over my arms and legs and face :P That stuff grows like crazy on the cape :-\ o well-better than poison ivy in westminster :'( By the way, im going to cape cod tommarow morning till sunday, planning on detecting more of the old paths around the bogs :)

Everytime I get cut by glass, and once a knife, while digging. I tell myself I'm going to get some gloves.
And I'm going to, too.

One of these days. Honest!! HH

I carry a wet-wipe and a couple bandaids in my wallet.

I found a half of a rusty utility knife blade today. It was deteriorated beyond being sharp...and it didn't "get" me....this time. I did get ahold of a piece of glass last week....minor cut...cleaned it up with a wet-wipe, applied the band-aid...and continued to hunt.

Along the same lines as my original questions about digging sharp thingies (which ya'll have answered wonderfully! Thanks), I discovered something almost as important as gloves.

I was way out in the desert today, found an old POW camp and a burned down hotel (nothing detected worth a darn at either place. Theres TONS of trash.) and managed to step on a rather thorny branch. In fact, it was so thorny that one of them went right through my running shoe and about 1/16th inch into my foot. OUCH! I had my little Leatherman tool with me, so was able to pry out the thorn going through the sole of the shoe, but the next time I head out, you can darn betcha that I'm gonna wear my Bates boots!

I did end up at a river and detected a couple of campsites. At one I found 13 cents in clad, but at the other, I pulled out a bit over $1 in quarters, dimes and pennies. Then I stopped off on the way home at an elementary school in a small town nearby and bagged another 85 cents in clad. So far, I think I've found almost 1.5% of my Ace's price. Yee haw! LOL None of the coins are worth taking up bandwith, so no pic.

Finally, my pinpointer arrived this afternoon. A Tinytec Deluxe, 6 1/2 inch. I fired it up and seems to be pretty spiffy. I guess I'll just have to go out tomorrow and try it out. :)

HH, ya'll!

? ? ? ?Sounds like good hunts to me.? ?The pow camp and hotel sound interesting.? I'd be tempted to clear any large debri.? Never know what it might be masking.? ? ? ? ? ? HH

::) I just started using gardening gloves. It keeps my hands cleaner and safer. You may want to try that. I have run into glass, but not razor blades.I usually find posin ivy ha ha. HH Silver girl IND>
