My friends gave me a call to come over to a park that they were working on. I really apreciate them inviting me because its always much more fun doing this than alone. Before heading over I thought I would take a picture of a bird that nests in an open field that I found my Indian cent in last week.

Anyone know what kind of bird this is?

Here is the Dime I found later that day. The Guys also did pretty well with some old relics and early wheat cents.

Looks like a Kill Deer bird. They nest on the ground and the nest is almost invisible until you step on it. A lot of times the sitting bird will get off the nest and fake an injury as a ploy to pull preditor animals away from the nest. We have a lot of these birds in the California.

Yes your correct it is a kill deer I also have alot of these in Pa... Most of the time they will fake a broken wings to get you away from the nest or babies..... I believe they get their name from the call they make cause some think it sounds like their sayin/singing Kill deer Kill deer

This guy is a real life saver. I left my pinepointer on the bumper of his truck and while he drove off it apparently flew onto busy traffic and he ran out and got it for me. ;D
