Be sure to season that shiny new pan by scrubbing it with soapy sand for a while until the water stops beading up on it. Oh, and GOOD LUCK!

Thanks! And what exactly does that do? Thanks again

The final panning works much better and your gold floats much less. Fine flecks of gold will float on surface tension fairly easily so it is key to keep them wet to avoid floating. Easier to keep the gold wet when the whole pan stays wet as you move the water around.

It will remove any oil left over from the pans manufacturing, as that
oil will steal your gold right outta the pan. Scrub it good with gravel
and sand, and then you're ready to go.

Thank y'all both!

Find your self some culverts, work a few of those riffles. Good luck.

I bought a set up similar to yours. I actually just went and grabbed some dirt yesterday. I knew there wasn't anything in it just wanted to get a feel for it. I didn't know the pans needed to be prepped either. Good luck to you

your removeing all of the mold release agent from the (as stated already) pan from the manufactoring proccess.if after doing this and you get your pan wet and the water still beads up, clean it somemore untill it dont bead up!and DONT use sand paper to scratch up the pan! river gravel will work just fine.

Interesting how wide the fine riffle section is. Wider than the ones on the pan I use.
