ANCIENT Antique PULMB BOB Ring SPEAR POINT Iron TOOL BLACKSMITH Forged?

No idea what this is, so I thought you all might like to have a look and share your two cents...

Looks to me to be hand-forged from iron. It's got a hammered texture all over it. Weights about 8 oz. Measures approximately 5 1/4" from end to end and about 2 1/4" across the ring.

The piece is identical on both sides with a line down the center of the point which is faceted in a tapering diamond shape. That white stuff on the end appears to be wax. Looks like someone once used it to dig out a candle or something.

The pix show it best.

My best guesses so far are:

1.) Plumb bob
2.) Spear point
3.) Weapon

Whatever it is, it must be mighty old! Let me know what you think... Thanks!

Hmmm,i dunno,I have seen gate hinges (Ring hinge)vaguely similar?

I'm not sure what a "pin bob" is , But I'd say the for the photo above, looks like it might have been anchored into a dock, and used for a tie off point for boats.

I like the idea of a boat mooring, maybe for driving into a stone block; however, most I can find have another, larger ring attached...
