In search of ancient roman traces, we reached a high hill ridge covered with forest, where unfortunately I found a lot of individual military trenches from WW2 and many pieces of bombshell and cartridge tubes. I was convinced that apart from these rubbish, nothing else can be. I was already bored by the signals of these traces when suddenly, near the old road, below the ground than the presence of iron in WW2, a beautiful silver medieval ring with engraved disc came out. I couldn't believe it ... I was expecting a new cartridge tube. It seems that the old road has been an important route for many years. I think it may be from the XIII-XIV centuries, and the engraving is interesting with the 2 crosses that resemble those of the Knights of the Templar order. It is possible that ring may have slipped from the glove of a nobleman or a knight who passed on that road...
Enjoy ! :hello:

Amazing ring! Looks like it could have been used as a seal as well. Congratulations and banner!

Banner vote from me. If only that thing could speak, what stories it would tell. Great find.

That is unbelievable! Banner for sure!

Thanks all of you ! :icon_thumright:

The detail and the engraving on that is amazing. It is in perfect condition. So glad you found and saved it. The middle ages at that. On a side note I can only imagine the finds you come across in those War World II trenches. i have seen people hunt them in videos. I am glad your find is from the Middle Ages.
Vote sent.

Woooooooooooooooow!!

One of the coolest rings I've seen here. Congrats, and I'm voting banner!

Thanks Tnmountains ! 8-)
About WW1 / WW2 enthusiasts, there are many here who are just looking for such artifacts and all the places where they have been fighting are being cleansed by the most important objects. If it happens to discover something interesting during the war, I give it to a friend. I am not a fan of these things, I can say that these traces bother me because I cannot discover what is below in depth ...

Those two crosses, looks like hand-stamped in place, and your theory might be very right...!

I didn't post a reply earlier because I was speechless! Congratulations on an excellent find and keep looking. Once the modern stuff is out of the way the good stuff will show up!

Real treasure. Felicitations :headbang:

That's really sweet. Does it diminish the value that you cleaned it?

Very cool find in lovely condition.:headbang:

Excellent condition. Congratulations.

I was thinking it looked like it could double as a seal as well for sealing wax on letters.

While that is indeed a beautiful ring and a great find, do you have absolute confirmation as to how old it is? To me (being honest here), I don't think it looks to be medieval or from the 13th century. The disk is too perfectly circular, and it's in too good condition, in my estimation, for it to be medieval. Also, the design on the disk seems strange for a medieval ring -- too symmetrical, too detailed, and completely nonrepresentational. I'm no expert, but from the pictures I would guess it was more recent, maybe from the 1600s-1800s. But if an expert already confirmed its age, then ignore this comment, as I could be wrong! Even so, a fantastic centuries-old silver ring is an amazing find, whatever century it is from!

I don't have an expert confirmation, but I have typology clues that go back to the centuries around which I wrote.
