Curry Comb

Looks to be some sort of door to something (note the curved handle that's attached to the item using a fancy design and the silver colored attachment point). Not sure what the fins on one side of the item were used for--looks like an old-fashioned heat sink of sorts. Thanks for any input on this interesting item.

I used one of those 40 years ago on my horse, actually they still sell them though some people use oval rubber ones..

They were used during the Civil War I believe. The book is 1902.

Yes--TN Digger and BigCypressHunter are correct! I taking a closer look at the "fins" I can see that they do indeed have fine teeth on them! Thanks guys for a great ID!
