Yesterday I searched the former homesite where I previously found a 1798 Draped Bust cent. Got lucky again with another large cent. This one is dated 1818 and is in delicate condition. Also found three buttons, including one with a scallop design. Additionally, I dug what I think is a brass wedding band. The ring appears to be stamped PURE PURE PURE on the inside, and is possibly early 1800s based on my other finds. Also recovered an ox shoe and a damaged pewter spoon bowl. Thanks for checking out my post. Good luck out there.

Nice early largie! Way to go

Congrats on the finds. I would love to score an LC this year.
I think you’re right about the ring stamped “pure”. I thought I remembered reading a post before that older plated rings were stamped like that.
I’m sure someone would know.
Thanks for the post,
MM

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

Great finds - a nice old Large Cent - congrats !
And yes, looks like a lot of the detail on the LC could be lost if it's cleaned.
Thanks! Fortunately the dirt just sort of flaked right off this one, as even a gentle tooth picking was removing detail. I am definitely going to leave it alone.

Thanks! Good luck on your quest for a large cent; they are out there. I am hoping someone has some insights on the PURE marking, as I have never seen that on the few brass rings I have found.
