long story short, 1 for 7 in the permission department today:BangHead:, including two big fat NOPEs from two prospects ive been working on since march! :BangHead:Plus WAY TOO MUCH miles on the car today, I think I need to take a week or two break because all the no's I got today were very frustrating:BangHead::BangHead:, lets just say I got my yes about 50 miles from home in mifflinville, pa and I had to work quick because the old lady was leaving in 45 minutes, I managed a tiny bit of clad, 6 wheats, an orphan annie ring, and two 1908 dox tax paid tags................Not terrible but like I said, I should probly take a small hiatus to scrounge up some new prospects, thanks for looking and HH!! No wonder my spidey sense was tingling yesterday....I was just across the river at work, lol! I have hunted 2 houses in Mifflinville, vacant lots that the township owns and all the parks there. Lots of little round rocks and sandy soil. Forget about keeping the plug intact! I found my AC&F tool tag there. Was my favorite find for the longest time. I have an idea where we should try next hunt...will be a little closer to you than Mifflinville!

I'm in, enough said lol

Sometimes when I get in rut, I'll take some time and look up places on the net. Maybe looking for an old farmhouse in the woods, someplace I can hunt by myself. I usually just type .....Historic map of (town)...Pa has such great history behind it. I searched a couple of weeks ago and found three new places to hunt, all public land and no one to bother me. I found the new sites by looking at old 1861 township maps on the internet, it just amazed me that an old wooded area that I've driven past a hundred times was a big farm in 1861, short walk and old foundation located.

Keep the faith brother! With all the awesome finds that you have made lately, you are going to hear a "no" or two. Now dust yourself off, and get back out there!

Here in Maine you'd be amazed at how many public state owned areas there are to detect. We have several giant wildlife areas and other places that are open to public. Our state does an awesome job of buying up land for the public to enjoy. Wish they'd do better with the taxes :-)
But seriously, I don't put it out there often but several of my best finds have come from places that are open to everybody. I'm saving my best permissions for later in the year. I have one site that could be a real show stopper. Might have to hit it sooner than later. My Will power is fading fast :-)

Here in OUR state, they do a great job buying up land, and making it available for hunting, or hiking or mountain bike riding, but it is strictly off limits to metal detecting. A hunter can fill a tree full of lead or screw their temporary steps into a tree, but I can't harm one leaf of poison ivy by digging a small hole in the ground, even though I would backfill it and carry out any beer can left by the legal users of the land. I don't see our hobby getting any better here.....only harder to find people that will allow you to practice it.

It's so damn backwards man! I have no issues with hunting but I've been in a couple of sites that you can't move 8" without digging up a hunk of lead. I find em in trees and like you said there's tree stands everywhere with steps screwed into a tree. It makes me sad that people would rather have these pieces of history disintegrate in the ground before they'd have a passionate history lover with a detector pull them out of the ground and have them be seen after hundreds of years. As you mentioned as well I pull so much trash out of the woods. I wish people could see the good that is being done but that doesn't happen often. For the most part this state is pretty good but I believe us to be in the minority for sure

Keep at it man. I've had many people in the country who won't even open the door to talk to me hahah you don't happen to have a shaved head do you?
