Got out today to the farm field since the corn stubble has been knocked down for the past week. Once again, I waved to the tractor operator as he drove by this morning to mow down the next field. Dug a few trash targets and then got a 79-81 signal, shallow. Flipped out the plug and found that the object was in the plug. Broke away a little soil to reveal a dark disk. Coin or flat button? Turned out to be a coin. As you'll see from the picture composite and the video, it is a 1787 Connecticut copper. Prior to this one, my only other minted post-colonial was a Vermont copper, also 1787.
This coin is approx. 28mm in diameter and weighs 6.78 grams or 104.6 grains.

Thanks for watching!

That a beautiful coin. I hope to start checking some state coppers off my bucket list. Congrats!

Huge bucket lister for many of us.
Congrats

Great find good job!!! I want one of those!!!!!

Awesome find and thanks for not calling it colonial [emoji106]🏿

Very nice! I really like the patina and off center strike

That's a great coin! I can't easily attribute it, but for sure I'm not seeing anything in the quick reference checks that has that massive an off-strike.

Congrats on your find!!
Looks like you are doing pretty good out there!

Thx Art! You said it, "old" and "nice". Found some slicks out here in the fields and zero detail is a let down. Really appreciate the detail on this one.

Thx Lee! It was my first "good" target of the day and turned out to be the best.

Thx JackalopeZL1! The "70% of getting over the target", worked for me today.

Thx, Aluminum Monster! Here in Maryland I didn't expect to dig a New England copper.

Thx Relicific! That's one more for the bucket. It's out there, I just happened to swing over it today.

Thx Tommy! I think this is the 7th large copper I've dug from this site.

Thx joeyfresh! Yep, colonial is a whole different animal.
