Amelia island FL. 1715 fleet

They might be working the wreck that Ivan found.

in a letter from Alexander Spotswood ( governor of Virgina ) to lord Stanhope ( in England) at the bottom of the page was a "P.S." note -- in it Spotswood tells Stanhope -- that 11 sail (vessels) have except for 1 sank --and that likewise a barcolonga ( a type of small sailing vessel) sent from Havana to the 1715 fleet wreck sites to recover VIP's and royal treasure wrecked about 39 miles from St Augustine (roughly the sea distance to Nassau sound from St Augustine ) --the various 1715 type items found in the Nassau sound area points to a vessel carrying 1715 fleet type tems wrecking in the sound -- while I do not think it is an "original" missing 1715 fleet vessel --I have no doubt at all that the recovery vessel was carrying prime "royal treasure" class items and if recovered would be a very very valuable shipwreck ndeed --my wreck site area that I want permits for is according to the state --"off limits" as it lies by modern day bird island inside the "conservation zone" * -- there is a old map of amiela island by capt willian fuller -- dated nov of 1769 that clearly shows a "wreck" marked below "sandy isle" along what was at the time an underwater oyster bar -- its now built up into bird island * that is what I believe to be the "lost" 1715 era recovery vessel 's resting place.

according to a old frank Hudson book -- near the southern tip of ameila island a Spanish payroll vessel sank * it might be legally recoverable I think and would make a very nice find indeed as well.

Hope you found it in the 'zone of possibility' and not within state territorial waters.
Given the wash-up over the years, we all know something meaningful's out there.

Good luck.

glad to see the polly-l is back to work. best of luck to all the crew. got to be exciting.

AR&R, WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT EVERYONE IS HAVING WITH THE STATE OF FL. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO GET A SALVAGE PERMIT? OR DO YOU ONLY HAVE AN EXPLORATION PERMIT AT THIS POINT? :icon_scratch:

We met with Governor Scott in the beginning of the year and one week later we got a exploration permits. . Once located for sure we get a salvage permit.

We are on site, we just put the legs down .

I wish these men nothing but the best * along the southern tip of area off Amelia island well within the "legal to salvage zone" , I do believe there to be a old small Spanish payroll carrying vessel that sank .-- while not the "mother load"-- I do think it would turn a bit of cash. -- I think it was called the "Santa Barbara"
