So I hunted a large 1950 era schoolyard today which is surrounded by mid to late 20th century homes. Found a few modern silvers in the past and I have pounded this spot since 2015. The nearest 19th century homes are quite a bit further away. This 1837 half dime was plenty deep and about the only thing I have ever found here with age. I was thinking maybe a drop from when this area was logged or farmed but then found a rare for me three ringer nearby. So maybe they were hunter drops. Also scored the ball button at another site today too.

I've only found 1 Seated Half dime, fun to see the tiny tarnished silver disk in the hole! Congrats!

Thanks. This one is my 30th seated since I started detecting in 2015. More than half are dimes from the fairgrounds site though. This has been the year of finding seated in different spots. 8 seated from five different spots

Wow! Really nice finds! Love that early Seated! Congrats and HH

Congrats on that sweet seated! You have found 30 seated in 3 years and I have found 2 in 30 years!

Congratulations that is an awesome coin!

That’s one beautiful silver coin
Congrats

Great find toasted! Nice condition for her age. I need one of those in my finds. Congrats.

Love the coin. The absence of stars give it such a different look.

Thanks, its one of the few US coin designs that only lasted a year or so and this one had far fewer minted than other short lived designs

Awesome score toasted, :occasion14: I bet your glad you went back to the site you've been pounding for a couple years. I'd love to dig a first year minted seated half dime. That one has to be worth about $70. :notworthy:

Thanks loco. Its probably the most valuable coin I have found to date though I have quite a few that are probably worth close to it.
