Amazing New Coin Stove by Ronco

I don't think I'd get rich burnin pull tabs Gypsy cause I hardly ever dig one of those up. ::)

But I would become a hero here at T-Net Hhhmmmm. ;D 8)

With the prices of lumber, it'd definately be a big savings! :icon_jokercolor:

Pull tabs go in the fire, blobs of aluminum go to recycling center. With all the pull tabs around here it wouldn't take long to save for the Gazillion volt ignitor ::)

Believe it or not, Aluminum does burn! Just ask the Canadians who are Nascar Fans and campers. My mother has a trailer on the backside of a trailer park at Michigan International Speedway ( MIS ). And everytime there is a weekend race, there is a group of Canadians that reduce their can clutter by burning them! I asked them one day, "How do you make them burn?" Well apparently they are also very fond of pistachio nuts, and they save all their shells throughout the year. Then they bag 'em up into 1 pound brown lunch bags and tape 'em shut. Then they place 3 or 4 bags at the heart of their firepit, then put some kindling on those, then start building a pyramid with their empties all around and on top of the firepit. When the pyramid reaches about 3 feet high, they ignite the bags, the fire gets super hot and the cans start burning! I have not tried this, as I do not do alcohol. Apparently there is something about the pistachio nut shells that allow them to burn really hot. As they empty a can they just add it to the top of the pile........ Not GE

I assume its the oil in the shells that burn extreemly hot.

I saw an entire load of oranges burn in a semi-trailer once. Its the oil in the orange skins that burn like crazy.

Actually, a company is working on a patent to burn aluminum cans for heat. http://burnaluminum.com/
They say they will have the product out in the summer of 09, but I've been watching and waiting for a year now, and they used to be saying the fall of 08, and I'm still waiting.

It sounds pretty cool, as an alternate home energy source, even if a few greenies are freaking out because they don't "get it."

But if this works, I say bring it on!

From their website:

START SAVING ALL YOUR ALUMINUM NOW!
You're going to need it.

Forget recycling,,, BURN IT! Create 10 times the financial value out of
your old pop cans over and above what a recycling center would offer you.

Very environmentally friendly and produces no harmful emissions at all!

You can 'Burn' aluminum cans and scrap for heat and electricity?

FACTS:
Aluminum has more energy per pound than gasoline.
Aluminum can create heat and Hydrogen which can heat rooms or run engines.
Yes Aluminum can be "BURNED" and the power within it can be released for use.

I work in a metal fab shop and the laser cut a lot of aluminum. We have to be careful with the aluminum dust because if it gets enough in the air and ignites .......... BOOM............

Yea, mix 70% iron rust with 30% alluminum powder and stick a sparkler in it. You'll get some heat. Thermite

Magnesium is my choice for fire. Just get a thimbleful of magnesium dust and throw a spark on it and you'll have a fire you CANNOT put out!

Magnesium is awesome to see burn, but you need protective goggles too. When I used to camp, one of the fathers worked for an airplane manufacturer and brought a few pieces to toss into the camp fire. It was like daylight around that little piece.
