Found these on my lunch break today along with about 7 broke ones. This is my 2nd Lecroy find they are one of my top favorite style points. The black needle looking thing I have no idea what it could be. It is ground down to a point. Any thoughts I would love to hear thanks!

Cool looking point, with a nice serrated edge!

I do not know on the round thing maybe for incising pottery? Like that Lecroy. One of my favorite points as well. The Lecroy site is not far from me and I have met his Granddaughter. That is a great example.:notworthy:

You have some cool find there, I like that serated point. :icon_thumleft: Your pointed artifact looks very much like a Belemnite Fossil.

Guys I think I'm wrong on that Lecroy..the base seemed a little off to me and after farther investigation if changed my mind to a Van Lott style

You found the text book definition! Nice. My guess on the other piece is it was used to notch points. Just a guess!

Great day!.... hour..haha.. that point cleaned up great! Congrats!

birdpoint, Overstreet has it as either a Lecroy or Kanawha Stemmed. I agree with you though that it could be something else, Overstreet doesn't list Van Lott at all so I can't comment on that type. Either way, it's an awesome find and a beautiful point!

The other piece, I have seen one like it one other time and when showed to a very knowledgeable friend who types many pieces for me, he said what we found was a pendant piece, it was drilled through at the top in such a way it could be threaded through and hung. It was made from steatite.

What is yours made out of? Stone? Wood? Looks like you've got a great place to hunt there.

Thanks for the info! Its stone for sure, not sure what type. I do know that that type of material(I call black stone) was traded from the Virginia area.

Nice finds. The pointed piece looks very similar to what has been posted here before and identified as a slate pencil.

its a hard stone,i found half of a banner stone earlier this year made out of the same material at the same site

Nice looking Point.

The other piece looks like a core from inside a Battery and they are made from Graphite.

Hey Grim I know exactly what your talking about I find them often, but this is definitely stone its heavy unlike those battery rods I put it under a microscope and there is no doubt its stone. And it has been ground down to a point.

Nice finds as usual. If you happen to find out what the stone pointed object is let me know, I might have one also but mine is tan and shorter.

If you haven't already searched slate pencil here at treasurenet there are a couple of threads you might like. I was wrong, the thread I remember, http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/north-american-artifacts/290194-atlatl.html, slate pencil was discussed as a possibility but not identified as such. I have never seen anything similar except here and have no idea exactly what they are but yours looks similar.
