Hi everyone. It's my first post on this forum as I usually go one the Canadian Metal detecting one. Some members invited me to post here so here it goes.

Had a most amazing hunt to date even thou I had some very good finds in the past (people here who know me from other forum will confirm)

On a hunt in Montreal pulled 3 early french silvers.

The first one is a Louis XV child 1/5 Ecu 1715-1722 (it's double struck on an older coin I believe,so no date)
An other was a clipped silver coin that seems to be a Louis XIV (1643-1715) with the Fleur de Lys counter stamp as to be used only in New France and the French colonies.
But it's the third one that made me fall on my chair...
BLANC COURONNE CHARLES VIII 1483-1493 !!!!!! Then Iron Patch helped me ID my coin (as I was searching in the 1600-1700 range) I thought he was kidding me, maybe I had something crazy in my ear... Than he says those coins were in use for over 200 years after being struck because of the coin shortage, especially in New France. Just amazing, not in my wildest dreams would I hope to find one here.

It is. I had to quote you saying "crazy find" because you don't hear that coming from you often or ever! You pretty much seen it all! Haha

I've spent a lot of hours on early French sites and believe me, any three French silver together would be something, but each of these is more like a lifetime French coin find... no exaggeration.

Wow, I was expecting your finds to have come from across the pond. Very nice...as in amazing. Congrats and welcome to Tnet

Thanks for the info! The diameter is 24 mm

Agreed. Fantastic finds Aureus, unfortunately (or maybe objectively fortunately, I'm not all privy to or aware of hijinks, which sometimes seem to happen) not eligible for banner under the guidelines (which are not ironclad, so I'm going to vote for banner). But holy moley, those are amazing finds, and great photos, tale, and presentation too!

Congrats btw Canada for Tatiana Maslany's Emmy award tonight. Long overdue, she should've won it on her first Orphan Black season/post (just poking fun at rules--preventing a one-time poster from a banner is far less egregious than the Emmy's slacking on giving Tatiana her just reward, since some voters don't want to give any awards to any early seasons [and on that, congrats/happy surprise also to Rami Malek of Mr. Robots' first season] [[and sorry for a bit off topic]])!

Those are amazing! Welcome to TNet, and thanks for sharing!

Not sure how this post goes to page two, and with only 2 pages of replies. Funny, if these were three 8 reales the place could be going crazy, but since they're early French I guess it doesn't matter... which is too bad because anyone who knows coins and can connect them to history, knows this find easily beats 3 big 8s.

Well this was my reaction to them...

Absolutely amazing coins! Congrats and welcome. -Lisa & John

Those coins are killer.
I have looked at them every day since they were first posted.
I think they are def. banner worthy coins.

As much as we all love those silver coins, many of us also like relics.
Would love to see some of the other finds you dug from that site.

I think someone mentioned a trade ring?
Would love to see what else came from a site that would hold 3 killer silvers like that.

Thank you! Trust me, I look at those coins every morning when I wake up. Just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I will post some more finds from September in a few days.
