Found in northern Vermont. Site has lots of early 1900s cavalry items but there are also some much older tombac buttons, large cents there as well.
I have 2 I’ve found, close to the same size, that I’ve called cufflinks. If we both learn something here, all the better

On another forum I've got a few people claiming it's a short tack? Nothing overly conclusive though. At the site you found yours, what other items were there to help hone in on a date? Do you have pics of yours?!

Have 2, can’t find but 1 right now. Location doesn’t provide much as both are 1700s starting points. (One to present and the other to ~1900). This one I think was late 1800s to early 1900s

Thanks for sharing. I think what you have there are definitely cuff links. I have a few like that myself. What is throwing me off is the moulded construction of it. And it's heavy like lead

Could be both actually.
A stud instead of a link.

Found the other one…along with what I originally thought was a woman’s button. Have been told it’s 1/2 of a set of cufflinks…..I believe the person that told me, but I have no idea.

Yes it's a half of a cuff link.
Joined as this example.
