Aluminum tool? What is it?

Any clue what this aluminum tool might be? Part of something else? The end is very sharp.

Looks like a shank made in a high school shop class.

interesting... it looks kinda like a gas piston from an automatic rifle, and kind of like the bolt from a captive bolt gun... I doubt it's either of those though but it could be something similar

NOLA_Ken is on the right track, I believe. I have seen gas pistons that have a very similar appearance. I have not, however, seen a gas piston that is aluminum. All I have seen have been stainless steel or bronze. Could be something else. Could be aluminum. Based only on the image shown, that is my best guess.

Getting technical ,Being a part time machinist and mechanic i can see its aluminum that has four v belt pulleys thats been turned on a lathe, that hasent been parted off, with a stainless steel rod put in the bore and sharpened, making it look like some hit mans weapon . now im worried about Hugosmom she hasent replied . wish people would not leave a person hanging like that . did you find it in your driveway , in your yard , maby stuck in your car door ? or in your mailbox stuck in a fish head? guess we will never know.

It was found on its own. I am starting to lean toward shop project ice pick. It's very machine age looking.

No worries. I am safe. Found it in a shed and you lot seem to be able to figure out almost anything posted.
Now I am going with shank or ice pick. Thanks for your input!
