This was laying in the back yard of a 94 year old lady's and she has no idea what it is or how it got there. Found a month ago in the grass. DSCF4441.JPGDSCF4442.JPGDSCF4443.JPGDSCF4444.JPGDSCF4445.JPGDSCF4446.JPGDSCF4446.JPGDSCF4447.JPG
Maybe someone tossed it there or it fell from the sky.

The keys are for size and the center has a plastic clear lens .

Guys I think it's a filter of some kind maybe an old car filter that has housing mounted to it.

The long slot indicates that it had a glass bowl at one time. It was a filter/separator at one time.
Hell ya my first thing I was right on, it looks like a mini water/fuel separator like the big ones they have on semi trucks.

Looks to be made of zinc. :icon_scratch:
As others have suggested, likely an automotive or tractor related part.
Dave

"Zinc is used in alloys such as brass, nickel silver and aluminum solder. Zinc oxide is widely used in the manufacture of very many products such as auto parts, paints, rubber, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, plastics, inks, soaps, batteries, textiles and electrical equipment."

No place to connect a fuel line or screen. No threads.
A clear plastic window. No way to flow gas through it.
I'm looking to solve it not take guesses.

It would have had a fitting on top of it that the fuel line would have went directly into the top of the housing. It's not going to go through the 2 circles u are seeing. There would have been a seperate piece mounted on top with a a Male threaded end to screw a female line to.

Part number on any of the part? Should be some markings somewhere on it.

The filter housing would be where the round holes are at is where the ring (hold the bowl on), the upper piece where plumbing was connected was held on by clips which are the two slots on the side. It should have a part number of sort, on some side of the housing.

No marks or numbers.
I looked it over again and the small round clear plastic you see on top and the tube that has what looks like paper glued to it is also clear plastic or glass.
Almost looks like an area to look in to see if a pilot light is on in a furnace.

The housing where it looks “plastic” is threaded into the housing, it’s a removable, replaceable filter element, in case of fuel turning in to milk, and contaminating the entire fuel system. You, and I may be seeing two totally different things, but based on my experience as an ASE certified diesel mechanic, I’ve replaced my fair share of those on old 12V Cummins, old gas engines, dating from the 20’s till the advent of the new style separator
