Almost shot & locked up...

Made it out for a Tnet’er group hunt Sunday morning with Jer and Louis at public site in the woods near the city. We started near a cellar hole and noticed a number of hunters’ tree stands and a motion camera. Actually we see these all the time, no big deal, no hunting Sunday, not deer hunting season yet. About 30 minutes into the hunt a man in full camo came bursting down the path toward Jer, and I holding a large handgun! Jer instinctively yelled something like “we are just metal detecting” and the guy murmured he was concerned people were stealing his hunting set up and he immediately turned around heading back in the direction he came from. Must have seen us in a live feed on his hunting camera. Maybe he was in another stand scouting pre season. Got our blood moving to say the least.

Jer and Louis both popped some cool relics from a new site we uncovered later in the hunt. Here is my stuff from the last week.

You always find the first class relics :occasion14:

Nice finds as usual Thad.

Had a good time hunting with you guys.

Only the 2nd time I had a gun pulled out on me hunting in the past 27 years.

One by the cops the other by a hunter.

Liked your idea of me diving into the brush and opening fire but I wasn't feeling that ambitious.

People should have some degree of what there doing before walking down a trail holding a .44

Oh well hopefully it's the last pistol I see.

That's the reasons I carry all the time anymore. You just never know.

Jer

Nice finds!
Glad you were able to talk him down. Had a run-in with a crazy in Idaho earlier this year at the upper Pack river, pretty sure he was a meth-head and I was getting close to his camp. Stay safe!

Love those locks!

Nice assortment Thad. Congrats on getting the dream team together for a hunt. The Elks watch fob is pretty cool, too bad it's not in better condition. You have found some Hutchison Soda Bottle stoppers. Now you need to find an intact Hutchison Soda bottle :laughing7:

Dang!!! I only carry when I detect my buddy’s property in Vermont, in Massachusetts I do run into a homeless person occasionally but they usually don’t pester us, however I do keep my shovel sharpened

:laughing7:

Shovel sharpened, with a serrated edge. Hopefully never needed for anything other than digging and slicing through those stubborn roots.

Be careful when in the woods and field, not only is it hunting season, but ‘tis also “Croptober” :laughing7:

Scary encounter but great results with the relics!

Thx for the bottle stopper ID and info Steve! We’ve gotten out a few times. 6:30 am start had us bushwhacking in the dark for 30 minutes.

Nice finds!
