All right guys let’s give it one more look I’ve cleaned it the best I could. Now you can read it a lot better I see “God bless America” I see some “trumpet” like on music paper and I see some lettering like the big “M”. Now this is the cool thing while I’m trying to research this doubloon/token I ran across these plates silver plated and then I saw some thing that was in my junk bag that I threw away so I went and dug it out the garbage and soaked it in lemon juice the only markings on it is “silver and copper” That’s where the maker would put his mark but mine doesn’t have a makers mark still cool as hell. Thank you

Well, I’m glad it wasn’t my imagination. The trombone is very clear now (together with a trumpet) and it is a musical stave below.

In larger letters than the “GOD BLESS AMERICA”, I can see “…MOUS” at the top and “SONGS” at the bottom. I suspect it reads “FAMOUS SONGS” in full and the stave will have the musical notation for the patriotic song titled "God Bless America".

The song was written by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1918 when he was serving in the U.S. Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, NY, so that’s the earliest possible date. However, he set the song aside because it didn’t fit in the revue (called “Yip Yip Yaphank”) he originally intended it for and didn’t become famous in its own rite until a little later. Its fame was cemented when he revised the lyrics and it was broadcast as a “peace song” on 11th November 1938.

I still have no idea what the token/medallion is for but, since its says “Famous Songs” (plural), I would guess it’s part of a collectible set, for which there were others with similarly famous American songs.

Hey that’s good enough for me when I’m not Metal Detecting I’m looking at all my old stuff and I always find something. Hey that’s good enough for me when I’m not Metal Detecting I’m looking at all my old stuff and I always find something. I found this and just thought it was a silver plated many tray so I put it in my junk pile and now I have another thing to show I literally went and took this out of my garbage when I saw something like it online looking for this token it’s crazy how things happen

Red-Coat it’s funny how things happen when I was looking for something for this token I put in Silver plated in Google then all of a sudden it pulls up these things big and small platters of silver over copper. It was bent and a half I didn’t think much of it more like when you find a silver plated fork doesn’t get me excited but seen the prices lol I ran in my garbage can and retrieved it I bent it back I cleaned it and then I gave it a lemon juice bath I tried to get the trademark but it doesn’t have one it only has “silver over copper” Even though it’s not worth anything it just goes to show you that you never now I’m pleased how it turned out and I will put it on my display proudly. It’s the little things in life that bring me happiness these days and I’ve also learned that I have to go through all my junk because I don’t clean it while I’m detecting

I think you nailed the mast the last nail in the coffin DC I looked it up they don’t show the other side but I’m pretty much sold on it the interesting thing about it is I’ve done so many to blooms and and every silver one I can remember had rust on it and all the cup song is this has no roster must be something else no just a cheap token. I just threw it outside my door lol
