Hello everyone I got the F70 with F75 coil on it I was told it would be pretty much same as F75 as far as settings go. So here's my question? I'm going to do some woods hunting around an old site there's some trash but mostly iron flaked soils lots of bits chatter. I got these 2 settings 1. DE Mode,Sensitivity 90-95,disc0-5,notch 1,threshold,0, or SL mode sensitivity80-85,disc 4-6,threshold-3,notch1 which of the 2 modes would everyone perfer?? I got about 4 acres to cover of woods and an old house which setting is best??

Not sure how similar - as my F75 only has threshold in all metal and I don't have a "SL" mode, but you've jinxed your notch according to my understanding. If you set the discrimination to "5" and then hit the notch button at "1" you have notched iron (0-5) back in. But . . . the notch shows "1" as the default display whether it has been so it depends on whether you hit the menu button while in the notch menu or not.

I do a factory reset (detector off & then turn it on while holding the button in and pushing the trigger forward until the "F75" display pops up).

When I hunt woods I set the discrimination to 5 and use the BC mode (helps identify & avoid the zillion .22 LR cases), sensitivity as high as I can get without chatter/falsing and no notch (it will still show "1").

If you have a lot of old iron (cultivator tines, nails, tractor parts, etc) set the discrimination to 20. Big chunks of iron and equipment can sound good and that will eliminate most. I wouldn't recommend that in a CW era site, however. But hereabouts iron = trash.

I lean towards running in de mode/0 disc(usually)/as much sens as possible(usually 95)/as + thresh as possible(usually +7-9)/ 2f tone/1 notch. Drop sens a tad and lower thresh to get rid of excess chatter (sometimes change op freq if near lines or electric fence), sometimes raise the disc a bit (lots of iron junkies). If I get a faint but repeating tone, I switch to program 2 which is all the same(usually) except SL mode is picked, gets a bit deeper. Lot's of "usually's", cuz it just depends on the place, lot's of variables. Still get quite a bit of high number hits that end up being bent or square nails. Still learnin the machine.
