Decided to check out an old cabin that I've been seeing on an old map for about 15 years now. Its in a mountain area thirty minute drive to the trail head from my house. Its a beautiful hike down the trail head, but very steep. It took about forty-five minutes going down throught thick brush, downed logs and dry creek beds. My GPS came in handy since I had already plotted my route. Once I got there I was suprised at all of the garbage that was this far from any main road. cabinrs.jpg

Found the outhouse and checked things out.outhousers.jpg

Spent a couple hours at the cabin and found a good assortmenteverythingrs.jpg
Half of a two piece axe, three clad pennies, a Mercury Dime, old lock other misc.lockrs.jpg

It took over two hours to hike back out but the views were awesome!canyonrs.jpg

Pretty cool. Why did it take you 15 years to get in there? Geez. That iron bed might be worth getting out of there. But I know the trail is steep and long. Even if you couldn't sell it, I like it when old bed frames are used as flower beds (get it, a bed frame used as a flower bed, oh nevermind.)

KG,

looks like a small adventure getting into
that location ;D

Nice group of finds.

Will you be going back?

Nice photos ;D

have a good un............

I will definately go back! There is alot more to be found there. Its too bad the cabin has fallen down. It makes it hard to get into some good spots. With several trips and some clearing out of the junk who knows what I'll find. I so wanted to take that bed frame but to be honest I don't know how I could do it. The trail is soooooooo steeeeep!

Makes ya wonder how the heck they got that stuff up there in the first place! I love old, really-out-of-the-way sites. The trek to and from is rewarding, and it always makes me more determined when I get there. No way I'm givin up 'till I get some old coins if I hike an hour or two to the site! Just think. That Mercury Dime might never have been found in such a remote location. Glad it has a happy home now in your collection.

Buckleboy

Nice story/finds~

wow!!scenic
wonder if the rock formation there might hold some loot, since it over looks the river and kinda stands out

I'm just gonna have to go back and check!

Kg6, the venture is half the fun isn't it? I have an old foundation I've been to THing which is a mountaintop hike to get to, but the views are of town, not as scenic as yours. Makes me think of it though. I love the pictures, and good luck to you on future hunts. It sure looks rewarding.
