Those things always come out crusty. Take some #0000 steel wool to it and you can get most of the buildup off of it and looking much better. Nice find!
Great one, I live in New Orleans and I find them all the time crusty like that due to the rainfall, the coins begin to corrode. I found one in Texas last month and was in great condition due to the relatively dry climate. The LA tokens date from 1936 so that is probably when yours dates from
Thanks guys. Yea that aluminum doesn't hold up good in this wet soil. Closest I could find and all research point toward the 1920's. No telling though. I have found a 1897 IH penny about 20 feet from this token in the past. Many decades of things waiting to be uncovered in my little 3/4 acre.
Your right about tokens not doin too good in this Alabama soil. I also live in nothern Al. Cullman county to be exact. What part of the state are you from.
