Got out early this morning but not early enough. For 5 hours I tromped along following a fresh set of boot prints. I got bummed and started collecting pottery and extinct snail shells the Indian ate. I finally headed another 10 miles down stream. Guess what? Same tracks same guy. I swear he has my hunt down perfect.
The water dropped a lot after lunch and I found this worn out Adena?.

After that I found this out in the water.

About this time I could hear somebody try to crank a boat. I guess they cranked on that thing for 30 minutes.I was ready to go help the guy I had been tracking all day when his boat fired. He drove by me wide open at about 10 miles per hour if that. He just waved at me,lol. I was cracking up.
Went back up river and tried some new spots and did ok. It sure was muddy. That is my foot by a point

Here is the pottery I collected and the now extinct snails. They used this type of fresh water snail as food and they also made garlands with them to cover their dead in burials.
The pottery is either stamped or incised and tempered with fresh water mussels or crushed lime stone in the local clay(mud). This pottery ranges from woodland to mississipian. The design was for texture cause it got slippery when greasy. The large stick incised piece is actually red but is still black from the fires.
Thank for lookin at my hunt.

Those are marginella shells I think , they could of traveled from the gulf coast.

I beleive you. The time frame would be right for trading. I wil try to get a picture of another shell for identification. Thanks thirty7

the early bird getting the worm is right on Tn. that field i hunted this weekend, friday afternoon around 6 pm a guy leaving as i got there showed me an awesome lost lake he had just found where i was heading to.
great finds man for following someone though. id rather follow someone as not go at all.

Thanks Tree and Worthy
It makes you hunt harder and smarter when following someone. I should hunt hard/smarter like that all the time to be honest??
I want some lost lakes. I love those things !!
