If it was shorter, I'd say it was a screw jack to adjust coil springs on a vehicle but I've never seen one that big.

If the square hole went all the way through I would say it is a spacer that goes between disc blades, but in the pictures it doesn't look like the hole goes through. Maybe something similar.
