So I found this at an 1850’s fort site. Is it period to the fort? Later?

Looks 1800s. The facets on the gem look a little off = OLD

The shape and patina on the ring looks to be 1700's but i'd say 1800's because of the site.

Maybe it was an family ring many people have worn in an long period?
