Hit an old forgotten beach / swim hole I researched in the hopes of finding some good old relics but never thought I'd pull up a wreath type buckle. It's smaller than I thought from others I've seen online. Went back 3 more times and dug every whisper and false signal in hopes of digging the tongue but it didn't happen, no matter as I'm overjoyed with this "bucket list" piece:icon_thumright:
I'm thinking of hitting it with the electrolysis, what do you think?

DO NOT "hit",it with anything especially electrolysis. If you want to ruin it,just go back and bury it.

Great find....please take care of it!!!

There is a chance it is this wreath which is quite valuable, you as much as "clean it",and its worthless, trust me

Buckles are DEFINITELY not my forte, but saw this page: The Ridgeway Civil War collection New York buckles & plates posted in another thread on this very forum. There looks to be a buckle that matches your find on this page. Please take it with a grain of salt, I have no earthly clue if it is relvant to your find... just thought I'd pass it on.

Very well may be,there is nearly no way to say what tongue for sure went to it,because there were so many variations that shared the same wreath's

Nice find and great research!! Good luck findin the rest.. CONGRATS.. HH

Fakes, CS two piece buckle, Haiman style, Confederate plates 015 through 018

Thanks for the info and link Kuger, I think it's def. a Haiman style by the given measurements, ok,no electrolysis on this one:icon_thumright:

Thanks fishstick, It would be nice to have the other piece and will be back hunting this spot so you never know.

Thanks for the link and info blindbug:icon_thumright: I don't know much on these either. After seeing kugers post above I took some measurements and mine is a few millimeters smaller than the New York one in the post you linked, thanks8-)

 Thank you for not destroying her!!

Nice find indeed! I got one this year too. Awesome to see that come out of the ground, doesn't get much better! I totally agree with the others, don't touch it! HH!
