Well it took me almost a year, but I found my first Indian head penny. It was found at the county fairgrounds in the grassy parking area. Found with my DFX at about 3.5 inches. Fairly good shape with a dark green patina covering it. The reverse is a little better condition, but the batteries went dead in the camera before I could get anymore pics. Thanks for looking

Very nice Indian. what is the mint mark? Very low mintage on the 1908 s. Mint mark is on the reverse of 08 and 09 only. HH lohi

I'll have to check for a mint mark, but I don't believe there was one. It should be on the reverse, below the wreath? Is this correct?

That is a purdy coin Doug! I remember jumping around for a couple of minutes when I found my first one!

You did good! Congrats!

;)

Very nice Doug, WTG!!!
I love the way them IH's look, all that patina really adds to the look of the coin...
Good luck, & happy hunting~

Been detecting for 4 years and the only really old coin i have is a crusty spanish coin from 1700's. I still have yet to find an indian of any coins of that sort. Maybe this will be the year!

That's a very nice looking Indian Head. You're probably getting more experience using your detector now. Hopefully they will become more common for you from now on.
